Ganesh Chaturthi History | What is the Story behind Ganesh Chaturthi?

Mata Parvathi appreciated Shiva’s Bull for his devotion towards his master. She knew he was quite devoted and would do anything asked for. One day, Parvathi made an Idol of a boy with her own skin and infused life into him with her divine powers. The young boy that emerged from the sculpture started addressing Parvathi as a mother.

She decided to go for a bath and asked her son to not allow anyone without her consent. Little Boy Ganesha stood right in front of the door and started guarding. Later, came Lord Shiva and the little boy didn’t allow him to enter the house. Lord Shiva tried telling the boy that he was Parvathi’s husband. After trying numerous times little boy will not allow shiva to step into the house. A massive argument flared in between two of them and Lord Shiva beheaded the little boy with his Trishul.

Parvathi turned furious knowing the death of her son and was so enraged that all Gods and Goddesses appealed to Shiva to please her. Later on, Shiva ordered his followers to bring the head of a creature that they would sight first.  As the Ganas headed in their mission they got an elephant head and it was fixed to Lord Ganesha. Thus, Lord Ganesha came into being, and to please Parvathi Lord Shiva gave a boon that Ganesha would always be worshipped first.
