Samsung is reportedly planning on launching it’s 2018 flagship smartphone, i.e., Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus sooner-than-expected. With an effort to remain a step ahead of its arch-rival company, Apple, the South-Korean technology giant is apparently aiming for a February release. If this turns out to be true, then the handset will not only have a significant lead from Apple’s 2018 offering but will also deliver fierce competition to the iPhone X as well. The Tim Cook-led venture ideally launches its flagship products in September each year.
According to Bloomberg, Samsung plans on unveiling Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus in February. They further plan on following it up with a March release. If this turns out to be true, then Samsung will be a whole month earlier than its actual version, since Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus were available for sale only in April.
There aren’t too many significant changes that the company plans on implementing in the S9 series this time around. Samsung fans can expect an upgraded camera, a slight difference in the display size and a more advanced operating system. Apart from this, there isn’t much that one can expect from Samsung.
Samsung Galaxy S9’s debut will serve as the first significant phone production since the introduction of the Note 8 series in September 2017. The South-Korean technology giant, however, has refused to comment on the matter.
Experts believe that the company may treat this launch as a way to continue its firm global hold in the smartphone market. The firm is also working on a new smart-home speaker, which will be in direct competition with Apple’s HomePod, Google’s Home and Amazon Echo. The device will feature an audio and home management features and will be introduced in the market in the first half of 2018.
