Google pixel-2 now will have two mind blowing features of always-on display and water resistant.
Google is expected to debut an Always On display with its upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Sources have revealed that, this technology will look very different from the ambient display feature available on current generation Pixel phones.
While everyone is talking about the iPhone X and Apple’s big launch event next week here Google slowly moving slowly and carefully closer to the launch of the next generation of its devices.
Now, new information from Google seems to indicate that the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will have some exciting new features. While everyone is looking in Apple’s direction, Google is speeding up for a very impressive launch of their Pixel devices in their unique way.
Primary thought of one’s perception is it appears that the Google Pixel 2 will have an always on display. This means that the device will always be displaying information important to the user like notifications. There is no need to worry about the battery life because the display is always-on. There are features within he settings of device which itself helps in optimizing battery life by disabling some features. The most exciting thing to see is how it sustains in practical world. Successfully Google has made it well enough that the effect on the battery is minimal. We will have to wait for some second opinions on reviews before making discernment about the always on display in the device.
One more mind blowing feature of this is water resistance. Pixel 2 is IP68 water and dust resistance rating i.e. it is completely dust resistant and resistant to water up to 1.5m for 30 minutes. For the sake of comparison galaxy S8 is also IP68 which is quite impressive.
9to5Google also mentions in a post that the 3.5mm headphone port is confirmed to be failed at this point which is disappointing. Users are most interested in seeing the commendable tactics that Google does to justify this change when they were taking shots at Apple for doing the same thing just one year ago. The expectation is that Google will have Google Assistant-powered wireless headphones available similar to Apple’s Air Pods. There will also be a USB Type-C to 3.5mm dongle packed inside the box with the Pixel 2. You are unlucky if you are not interested in wireless headphones or comfortable using the dongle feature.
There is also certification information yesterday for the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. These certification documents confirmed what had long suspected. HTC is manufacturing the Pixel 2 while LG is building the Pixel 2 XL for Google. These brings up earlier rumors that the two new Google devices will have many of the same features as the HTC U11 and LG V30. For example, the Pixel 2 will have a squeezable frame while the Pixel 2 XL should have a new bezel-less design similar to what we see in many other unique features these days.
According to 9to5Google, the Pixel 2 range will be available with an entry level 64GB model up from 32GB of storage last year. Google will also sell a 128GB option for those that need more internal storage. While 32GB storage is removed from last year due to some technical issues. There is no wonder to see the exorbitant price of pixel-2 as all the smartphone prices are increasing.
The device is likely to enter into market in September. To answer apple and Samsung it presents great features to impress user, after iphone X is revealed.
With all news and articles, all of these features aren’t official until confirmed by Google. I’m still holding out hope that the 3.5mm headphone port is alive. New features are always great to have but the loss of basic features like a headphone port may leave a bad impression in the thought of some buyers. Well although that hope is fading fast.
Google is widely-tipped to launch its new Pixel 2, a tablet and a wearable models on October 5th.
