Google has been posting teasers relating to updates for its Chrome platform for several months now. The search giant hopes to make the surfacing experience for users more comfortable and convenient. Developers at Google announced on Thursday, 14th December, suggesting that users can update their browser. Following the update, Chrome users will have additional control over things like preventing auto-play videos from becoming active on the website, etc.
According to Gizmodo, the recently-launched update is called Chrome 64 beta. This version is designed to safeguard your device from malicious redirects automatically. The primary highlight of Chrome 64 beta is that it consists of numerous, modern ways to circumvent ads. More times than often, these ads end up harming Chrome user’s web experience as a whole.
The newest feature on Chrome will allow users to quickly mute autoplay videos across a whole website through the support of a simple click. Interested individuals are required to download the beta version. Following which, every time they face a page that auto-plays video with sound, they can choose to mute it instantly. The option of muting the ad will be made available below the video after the update.
The mute function is not the only addition made to Chrome. Developers at Google have also updated the platform with an enhanced pop-up blocker. Be it disguised play buttons, annoying link show-ups or other unnecessary content; users will remain at peace from the trouble caused by all of these.
Users are also provided with a unique information bar every time they are being redirected to a website that has been blocked in Chrome’s case. The search giant has also created a helpful portal for website owners. This will allow website owners to find out whether they are engaging in prohibited practices.
