E-commerce giant Amazon is currently leading the smart-home speaker space. Even though the firm still hasn’t shared the exact sale numbers, it is pretty evident that the Echo smart-home speaker is probably one of the most incredible gifts of 2017. In order to acknowledge this sale, Amazon even published a press release wherein they claimed that it was a “record holiday season” for Amazon device sales.

The company further went on to state that millions of more devices were being purchased worldwide on a daily basis. One of the best-selling product on the e-commerce platform is Amazon Echo Dot, which is currently priced at $30 (original price: $50).

According to a report by Slate, several other Echo products – including Echo Spot, Echo Buttons, and Echo Dot – also managed to be completely out of the sale. This unaccountable profit that Amazon managed to make over the holidays doesn’t come across as a surprise. The e-commerce giant already rules the smart-home speaker space. In fact, they were the first ones to enter this segment in the market.

Amazon was only later followed by Google and Apple thereafter. Consumer Research Firm, Strategy Analytics based on data at its disposal, provided an estimate wherein they stated that Amazon has managed to secure an approximate of seventy percent of the smart home speaker market. This figure was what Amazon managed to profit back in 2016. However – in 2017 – the e-commerce giant went on to secure a total of seventy-five percent of the smart home speaker market.

Amazon introduced a lot of newer smart home speakers in the market this year. The e-commerce giant included a second-generation Echo, which came equipped with Dolby audio, a separate display for watching short videos, and of course, the incredible digital voice assistant, Alexa. Amazon also managed to beat out its rivals over the holidays, especially with its Alexa application.
