NASA (National Aeronautics and space administration) has 10 major installations.

The radiation environment of deep space is different from that of the earth due to cosmic rays.

Space radiation is a major challenge for the astronauts. However NASA is looking out for ways and developing technologies to overcome this problem.

Radiation in simple terms means eaves or sub atomic particles that transports energy to another entity whether it is the astronaut or the spacecraft component.

There are tools and techniques to measure the level of radiation in space.

But now NASA itself is admitting that space radiation can be very risky for a human body.

While people tend to protect their eyes during a solar eclipse but the astronaut needs to protect his whole body while in space.

One of the most challenging part for the human journey to Mars us the risk of radiation exposure and Thereby long term health impact.

However it seems like the risk is not stopping NASA from achieving their goals dreams and passion.

NASA is working on evaluation of various materials to shield their crew.

NASA’s Advanced exploration systems division is also developing various space radiation detection and mitigation technologies.

RAD- The radiation Assessment detector was one of the first instrument sent to Mars to prepare future for human beings specifically.

It measures and identifies radiation on the Martian surface such as protons, energetic ions etc…

This includes not only the radiation from the Martian surface but also the secondary level of radiation and interaction.

Mars is the best option we have to expand the human presence” says Troutman.

But to reach that point there are many points to clear one if which is the impact of radiation in space.

Now that NASA had found out water ice situations which can make life at Mars, there’s no stepping back.
