With the increase in the list of restaurants all over, the consumption of junk food is also increasing. People aren’t realising that unhealthy consumption of food can lead to premature death in the long run.

According to the latest research one in five deaths last year is linked to poor diet.

As per this research, few children are dying even before they are turning 5.

In 2016, more than 1.6 million people in poor countries died from diarrhoea caused due to contaminated food and water.

The global life expectancy last year was 75.3 years for women and nearly 70 for men.

Near 3/4th of the deaths were caused due to non-communicable diseases. Now that has increased by 20% in a decade.

Tobacco caused deaths is about 7.1 million around the world.
11% of the world’s population is undernourished.

The global burden of Disease study, published that poor diet is associated with one in five deaths globally.

Diets with lower amounts of whole grains, fruits vegetables, nuts, seeds,fish oil and high on salt are the factors increasing the risk of death due to diet. If our body receives necessary amount of nutrients, we feel more energized and productive.

Like a Ferrari runs well but if it’s not given the right type and quantum of fuel, it starts giving issues while running. Our bodies also works in the similar manner. To keep our body in the right shape,size and response, we need to intake right quantum and quality of food which is our fuel.

The risk of death due to diet has increased by 20% in the current year.

Further, mortality due to another so called “lifestyle” diseases has gone up by more than 30%.

“We are facing triad of trouble holding back with- obesity, mental illness including substance abuse disorders”, said Christopher Murray, director of the Institute for health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington in Seattle.

If not death this is leading to other risks like diabetes, high blood pressure, high body mass index, obesity, cholesterol etc..

Among all forms of malnutrition, poor dietary habits- particularly how intake of healthy foods is leading to increase in the risk for mortality.

It is found that diet is the second leading factor of unusual and early death after smoking.

Having an unhealthy diet is almost equal to you’re smoking in terms of the risks and consequences involved.
