Whenever CBSE is in a position to hold exams, it will give adequate notice and won&#8217;t hold board exams for the rest of the subjects.<\/p>\n<h3>HIGHLIGHTS<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>CBSE to conduct board exams only for 29 main subjects that are required for promotion and crucial for university admissions.<\/li>\n<li>For rest of subjects, CBSE will not hold board exams; instructions for their marking, assessment to be issued soon: HRD Minister.<\/li>\n<li>Class 9, 11 students not promoted this time can appear in school based tests online or offline.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct class 10 and 12 examinations for only 29 main subjects which are crucial for promotion and admission to higher educational institutions, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal &#8216;Nishank&#8217; announced on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Have advised CBSE to conduct board exams only for 29 main subjects that are required for promotion and crucial for university admissions. Whenever CBSE is in a position to hold board exams, it shall conduct for 29 subjects by giving adequate notice. For rest of the subjects, CBSE will not hold board exams and instructions for their marking, assessment will be issued soon,&#8221; he announced.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Please note: As &amp; when the Board is in a position to hold examinations, it shall conduct examinations for the  29 subjects by giving adequate notice.<\/p>\n<p>Study Well and Stay Safe!<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/IndiaFightsCorona?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#IndiaFightsCorona<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank (@DrRPNishank) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrRPNishank\/status\/1245333142124167171?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 1, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\">The exams were postponed in view of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\">The press release issued by the Board reads:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\">In view of the prevailing extraordinary circumstances of the worldwide spread of Covid-19 and the countrywide lockdown, and in view of the queries raised by our stakeholders regarding the academic future of students, the Board advised\/informs all schools affiliated to the Board as follows as a one-time measure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\"><strong>For Classes 1 to 8<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\">All students studying in classes 1 to 8 may be promoted to the next class\/grade. This advisory is being issued in consultation with NCERT.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\"><strong>For Classes 9 and 11<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\">It has come to our notice that though several schools affiliated to CBSE have completed their examination, evaluation and promotion process for students who were studying in grades 9 and 11 in the 2019-20 academic session, there are several schools that have not been able to do so. This includes among others, Kendriaya Vidyalays, Navodaya Vidalayas, State\/UT government schools, private schools, schools located in India and abroad, etc. All such schools are advised to promote students of grades 9 and 11 to the next grades on the basis of all the school-based assessments including project work, periodic tests, term exams, etc. conducted so far. For any child who is unable to clear this internal process, (in any number of subjects), the school may utilise this period for providing remedial interventions, and school may give the opportunity of appearing in school-based test\/s, online or offline. The promotion of such children may be decided on the basis of such tests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\"><strong>Schedule for Class 10 and 12 board exams<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\">With Regard to rescheduling board examination for classes 10 and 12, it is informed that at this stage it is difficult for the Board to decide and announce the new schedule for examinations. However, it is informed that any decision that the board will take with regard to the conduct of examination will be taken by undertaking extensive consultation with higher education authorities and by keeping all aspects related to entrance exams, admissions dates, etc. in mind. In this context, it is further informed that the Board will give notice of about 10 days to all stakeholders before starting the Board examinations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\"><strong>Subject for Board exams<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\">It is informed that the Board was not able to conduct exams on 8 examination days due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation. Further, due to the law and order situation in North East Delhi District the board was not able to conduct exams on 4 examination days, while a very small number of students from and around the District were not able to appear in the exams on 6 examination days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-node\">Considering the extraordinary circumstances, the Board has been forced to review its policy in this regard. Under ordinary circumstances, the Board would not have hesitated to conduct all examinations that could not be held after March 18, 2020 or are postponed for other reasons.
