Southeast Mexico: A powerful 6.0-magnitude earthquake has hit southeast Mexico, together with tremors felt as far away as Mexico City and neighboring nations, seismologists and citizens state. There were not any immediate reports of big damage.
The earthquake, which hit 10:40 p.m. local time on Saturday, was based about 122 km (76 miles) northwest of Salina Cruz, also a significant seaport from the southern state of Oaxaca. It struck by a depth of 97 km (60 miles).
Mexico’s Seismological Service (SSN) place the preliminary size at 6.0, down from a preliminary estimate of 6.5.
Officials stated tremors were felt throughout the area, as far from Mexico City, Guatemala, and Belize. There weren’t any immediate reports of big damage or casualties, although a few buildings had been evacuated as a precaution.
There’s not any danger of a tsunami.
