Researchers in Washington found that intermittent fasting for every 2 days upto 16 weeks enhances our weight loss without having any calorie count and can fight against obesity and other metabolic disorders.
Experts found that the outcome was so fast which already showed benefits only after 6 weeks.
Under- or over-eating, not having enough of the healthy foods we need each day, or consuming too many types of food and drink, which are low in fibre or high in fat, salt and/or sugar are the main causes of unhealthy lifestyle. These unhealthy eating habits and sedentary lifestyles are playing a major role in the development of lifestyle-related metabolic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity.
Intermittent fasting in mice aided to kick-start the animals’ metabolism and to burn fat by generating body heat is proved according to a research. The research team was headed by Hoon-Ki Sung of The Hospital for Sick Children in Ontario, Canada. This research was conducted by Kyoung-Han Kim and Yun Hye Kim.
“Intermittent fasting without a reduction in calorie intake can be a preventative and therapeutic approach against obesity and metabolic disorders,” says Kyoung-Han Kim.
These animals were fed for two days succeeding by one day without anything to eat. Calorie intake was not adjusted to it. The mice in the fasting group weighed less than those in the control group who continued to eat the same volume of food after 4 months.
Eating a regular clean diet for five days a week and then pick any two days of the week to restrict your intake of food to less than 700 calories. This caloric restriction still activates many of the same benefits as a full intermittent fasting day.
The fating program helped the lower fat which is built-up in the white fat by increasing the brown fat involving in burning the energy and producing the body heat of the mice which is on the high fat diet. In this case lower body weight of the mice in the fasting group was not the only effect.
In this test the glucose and insulin cells remained more stable and tempered as an immune reaction of fat cells.
Instead of depriving the body of food for longer stretches of time raises some concerns for our hormones—like insulin, stress hormones like cortisol, and female hormones like estrogen and progesterone this type of intermittent diet is more helpful for weightloss.
Fasting after every two days can help in weight loss. Eating fruits, veggies, nuts, grains can help in losing calories. It is found that 25% of needed calories can be burnt out by fasting. It involves drastically reducing your calorie intake on some days or during certain house and eating whatever you like on others.
