  • More than 24 terrorists, including Taliban senior commander Qari Bakhtyar, were wounded in the operation.
  • Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman of the Taliban group, rejected the claim and insisted the security forces’ operation had been repulsed.

Hong Kong descends into chaos again as protesters defy ban
  • In Hong Kong streets descended into chaotic scenes again on 20 October, 2019 as protesters set up roadblocks and torched businesses on a main tourist drag and police responded with tear gas and a water cannon following an unauthorised pro-democracy rally.

FPIs pour in Rs 5,072 crore in Indian Capital markets
  • Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs), have infused a net sum of 5,072 crore rupees into the Indian capital markets this month (October, 2019) so far amid the government’s efforts to revive domestic demand.
  • As per the latest depositories data, foreign investors put in a net sum of 4,970 crore rupees in the equities and a net 102 crore rupees in the debt market during 1st to 18th October, 2019.
  • In the preceding month, FPIs had invested about 6,558 crore rupees in the domestic capital markets (both equity and debt).
  • This came following net outflows in July and August.

India destroys several terror launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir
  • Indian Army has destroyed three terror camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir and killed ten Pakistani soldiers.
  • In a major counter-offensive after unprovoked firing by Pakistan, Indian Army carried out heavy artillery strikes targeting four terror camps and several Pakistani military positions in Neelam Valley.
  • Ten terrorists were also killed in the retaliatory action by the Army.
  • Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat told media persons that the action by the Indian forces caused substantial harm to the terror infrastructure across the Line of Control (LoC). He said, more information on terrorist casualty is being obtained.
  • Army chief said the terror camps destroyed by the forces were located in Athmuqam, Kundal Shahi, Jura and one in Leepa Valley.
  • Gen Rawat said, defence minister Rajnath Singh was briefed about the retaliatory action.
  • The Army had received information that terrorists were coming closer to the camps in the forward areas.
  • In the last one month, repeated infiltration attempts were made from the Gurez, Keran, Machil, Uri sectors and south of Pir Panjal.
