Iran to enrich uranium using centrifuges

• Iran has no credible reason to expand its uranium enrichment programme. State Department spokesperson Washington fully supports.
• The International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA in conducting its independent verification role in Iran and look to the IAEA to report on any developments.
• Iran’s expansion of uranium enrichment activities in defiance of key nuclear commitments is a big step in the wrong direction and underscores the continuing challenge to international peace and security.
• The State Department statement came after Iran announced that it will begin enriching uranium using centrifuges at its Fordow facility.
• Washington will continue to impose maximum pressure on Iran until it abandons what he called its destabilising behaviour including proliferation-sensitive work.

Russia criticize US on withdrawal from Paris climate accord

• Russia joined other nations in criticizing the United States withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, it seriously undermined the agreement. President Vladimir Putin’s Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told in Moscow that it’s very hard to talk about any kind of climate agreement in view of the US pullout from this agreement.
• The US is the leading country in terms of emissions and any US pullout undermines this agreement in the most serious way.
• Earlier, China also expressed regret over Washington’s decision to formally notify the United Nations that the US was withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement.
• China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Geng Shuang at a press briefing in Beijing today said the US can take more responsibility and do more to contribute a driving force to the multilateral cooperation process, instead of adding negative energy.
• The United States will be officially out of the accord on 4th of November 2020, one day after the Presidential election in which Mr Trump is seeking a second term.

• According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Guyana’s GDP is expected to be more at 86% in 2020 after expanding 4.4% in 2019.

• Ignition is a crucial and highly critical phenomenon in the ignitionchain of Rocket motor. HEMRL has developed various fuel /oxidizer based ignitercompositions using organic binders.
• The laboratory has developed severalignition systems to ensure reliable initiation of rocket motors of various tacticalas well as strategic missiles.
• Ignition system for Agni, Prithvi, Akash, Nag, Pinaka, Long RangeSurface-to-Air Missile (LRSAM), etc. have been designed and developed in HEMRL.Technology for AKASH, Nag missiles and Pinaka Mk-I Rocket has been transferred to Ordnance Factory, Dehu Road, Pune and private industries.

Thaawarchand Gehlot announces setting up of sports training centres for differently-abled people

• The government is establishing sports training centres at five locations in the country, exclusively for the differently-abled people.
• Thaawarchand Gehlot unveiled the Standing Wheelchair, developed by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, for commercial production at a function held in Chennai.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar to attend 15th meeting of Governing Council of SACEP in Dhaka

• Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Information & Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar will attend the 15th meeting of the Governing Council of South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme, SACEP in Dhaka on 6 November, 2019.
• The SACEP is an inter-governmental organization which was established in 1982. Its member countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka aim to promote and support protection, management and enhancement of the environment in the region.
• The 14th meeting of the SACEP Governing Council was held in March last year (2018) in Colombo.

Indian Hockey teams qualify for 2020 Olympics

• In Men’s Hockey, eight-time champions India qualified for next year’s Tokyo Olympic after mauling Russia 7-1 in the second game of the two-legged FIH Qualifiers for men in Bhubaneswar.
• The Indian men, ranked fifth in the world defeated world number 22 Russia 4-2 in the first- leg.
• The Indian women’s also sealed their place after beating the US on aggregate despite losing the second match 1-4.
