NEET, JEE Main Exam 2020: Check the revised dates for entrance exams

NEET 2020, JEE Main 2020 Postponed to September: Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ earlier today evening announced that NEET 2020 medical entrance exam and JEE Main 2020 engineering entrance exam are being postponed to September 2020 in the light the prevailing situation due to Coronavirus pandemic. HRD Minister also shared the revised dates for both the exam in a video message that was sent out on his social media pages.

JEE Main, NEET 2020 Revised Dates for Exams

According to the message shared by HRD Minister, JEE Main 2020 exam is now scheduled to be held from 1st to 6th September 2020. On the other hand medical entrance exam NEET 2020 will be held on 13th September 2020 for medial aspirants. The IIT JEE Entrance Exam i.e. JEE Advanced 2020 exam is scheduled to be held on 27th September. This means that students can expect JEE Main 2020 resutls to be announced very quickly, within one or two weeks of the exam being held i.e. by 15th Sept.

JEE Main, NEET 2020 Results to be announced in Weeks

As per media reports, sources close to the National Testing Agency have reported that it plans to announce the results for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 exams within week of holding the exam to ensure that admission process is completed in shortest time possible and academic session is not delayed further. Reports indicate that NTA plans to declare JEE Main 2020 Result within 5 days of the exam i.e. by 11th September 2020. On the other hand, NEET 2020 Result 2020 can be expected in 20 days i.e. by 1st week of October. On similar lines, JEE Advanced Result 2020 can be expected to be announced a week’s time i.e. by 8th October.

Safety First Mantra by HRD Minister

In the announcement made today via the video message, HRD Minister said that the expert panel formed by the HRD Ministry was asked to look into various facets to understand the feasibility of holding the JEE Main 2020 and NEET UG 2020 Exam. In line with this, they were asked to first prioritize Surasksha i.e. Safety ahead of Shiksha i.e. Education. HRD Minister also gave the same mantra of ‘Pehle Suraksha Phir Shiksha’ to the students. At the same time, he also added that the decision to postpone the exam was taken to ensure quality of higher education in engineering and medical institutions. He said that postponement may cause slight delay in admissions process but will ensure that a balanced approach is found between shiksha and suraksha.

Students, Parents Demand Met

With JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 Exams scheduled to be held from 15th July 2020, students and their parents were demanding cancellation or postponement of the national level medical and entrance exams in favour of safety of the students. In fact, many students had also stared online social media campaigns under #StudentsLivesMatter #postponejeeneet2020, #HealthOverExams, and #HealthOverNEETjee for last several days, demanding postponement or cancellation of the exam. Today, with the announcement, HRD Minister has met the demands of these students.
