CBSE warns about fake news; check important notice on 10th & 12th board exams here

NEW DELHI: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday released an important notification about fake notices regarding board exams.

The official notification reads “It is brought to the notice of all that there are some unscrupulous elements circulating fake news in form of lookalike circulars about CBSE board exams, evaluation, pass criteria through various social media groups with the sole purpose of misleading innocent students and parents.”

The board has released this notification in view of various fake notices circulating in social media about CBSE exams.

The official notification further reads that “The board has in the recent past taken strict action against rumormongers by filing FIRs against individuals, links under IT act, it will be again compelled to trace the sources and book these miscreants under law.”

Public and media are advised to check CBSE’s official website or Board’s official handles to check details regarding exam, evaluation, pass criteria etc.

Fake CBSE Circulars Being Released by Miscreants

CBSE Board’s circular on fake news and misinformation says that miscreants who want to confuse students and parents are using fake circulars that are designed to look identical as official circulars released by the board. Often, such circulars are distributed among the students via WhatsApp and other social media platforms. The circulars are mainly focused on CBSE Board Exam 2020 dates, the evaluation process and passing criteria. However, the board has today clarified that it has not released any such circular announcing changes in any of these aspects. The Board has also warned miscreants or agencies who are trying to spread fake news that it is mulling the idea of taking legal action again fake news under IT Act.

CBSE Advises Students, Parents to refer only Official Website

Along with warning miscreants who are involved in creation and circulation of fake news about CBSE Board Exam 2020, the board has also advised students and parents, not to believe in such misinformation and instead only refer official sources to get details about the upcoming board examination. In addition to the students and parents, the board also advised media organizations to only refer to official communication channels of the board and not to rely on rumours or misinformation to report developments about CBSE Board Exam 2020. According to the CBSE circular, the board has asked students to only refer the following official channels to get verified details about upcoming bard exams:
