Sometimes, the consequences become devastating and the situation can be worse than one imagines. People from all walks of life and ages are the victim of depression. Reach Out To People Whom You Love

When you are depressed, you prefer to isolate yourself from others. But stop thinking of isolation as a solution and reach out to the outside world because social support is very necessary to beat depression. Reach out to friends who make you feel cared for. Also, discuss your feelings with those who will listen to you compassionately without being judgmental about you. Try this and you will find depression leaving you.

Do What You Like

Though it may be difficult during the phase of depression, keeping busy with the things you like, works like a rejuvenating elixir. Choose to play a sport you like, or express yourself with an art like painting or writing. Go for fun activities with your friends or make a trip to the nearest hill station. This way, you will feel more upbeat and energetic.

Exercise Regularly

It is scientifically proven that exercise has mood boosting effects. Place exercise in your recovery arsenal and you will soon find amazing results. To reap the maximum benefits, aim to exercise for at least thirty minutes a day. It’s okay to start with low intensity exercises, as even brisk walking and jogging proves beneficial.

Eat Healthy

‘You are what you eat’- going by this saying, depression Is interlinked with the food one eats. So, avoid foods like caffeine, trans tat, alcohol, sugar and refined carbs that adversely affect your mood. Vitamin B deficiency may also trigger depression. Hence, try to address this deficiency with a supplement or foods like eggs, green veg, beans, citrus fruits etc. Foods rich in omega 3 fatty acid also play an important role in stabilizing your mood.

Get Some Sunlight

Exposing yourself to sunlight boosts serotonin levels which In turn helps to improve your mood. So, aim for getting at least 15 minutes of sunlight in a day.
