Best Hair Care Tips For Strong Lustrous Hair
Down the ages, particularly in India, thick, long, lustrous hair has been considered a primary beauty asset. Also, the principles of beauty have always laid great importance on the hair of a woman. Yet, we see so much hair damage today, which is mainly due to the use of chemicals for styling, dyeing and colouring.
Damaged hair is weak and tends to break or fall easily. In most cases of damage, the basic structure of the hair is affected, which in turn affects the texture, making it rough, weak and without lustre. The hair is actually like a delicate fabric, so it must be treated in that way.
Healthy Hair And Related Factors
Strong, healthy hair is not really difficult to achieve. What one needs is an awareness of the kind of treatment it deserves, so that it can be protected and its beauty can be restored. In terms of nourishment, the first thing to remember is that the body must be in a state of good health. Also, the diet and good blood circulation is extremely vital for healthy hair.
The hair also needs external nourishment in terms of regular hair care. Hair growth occurs in phases and every single hair has its own lifecycle. Once the hair ends its life cycle, a new one replaces it. Ofcourse, these all are affected by factors like hormonal changes, age and other health conditions.
Healthy Diet Promotes Healthy Hair
Good diet is very crucial to maintain healthy hair, because hair is fed by the nutrients in your blood stream and nutrition deficiency can cause hair loss. A diet rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes and necessary protein plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy hair.
Fresh fruits, salad, green vegetables and sprouts should be a part of your daily diet. Pulses, lean meat, fish and eggs etc. are good sources of protein. Along with your diet, good sleep, exercise and a healthy lifestyle is essential to maintain healthy hair.
Benefits Of A Scalp Massage
The application of oil with a light massage, helps stimulate blood circulation to the follicles. Thus, an Ayurvedic head massage is said to make the hair strong and healthy as Ayurveda recognises specific points, called ‘marma ‘on the head, due to which the massage proves beneficial. The ‘marina’ points are massaged gently, using circular motions in a clockwise direction. Pressure is also applied and released gently.
You can also follow this self-massage technique. Coconut oil is said to promote hair growth so just warm the oil and pour it on the centre of your head and massage. Now, massage on both side of your scalp gently moving towards the ears. Also, pour some oil on the back of your head and gently massage the sides and back of your head. A gentle massage all over your head stimulates blood circulation so use your fingers to rub all over the scalp and try to move the skin of the scalp gently.
Make Your Own Hair Oil
You can prepare your own hair oil by mixing a combination of herbs. Take 10- 15 grams of dry amla and one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds. Grind both the herbs in a proper way and add it to approximately lOOmI of pure coconut oil. Put the mixture in an airtight jar and expose it to sunlight for 15 days. Shake the mixture well to stir the ingredients. Use a clean muslin cloth to strain the oil and keep it in a separate bottle. This oil can be used for all hair types.
Shampooing And Hair Care Tips
Shampoo should be used according to one’s hair type. Generally speaking, wash your hair three or four times a week, for oily hair and twice a week for dry hair. Apply a mild herbal shampoo and rinse the hair thoroughly with water.
After washing your hair, do not rub it with a towel. Allow the towel to soak up the moisture and wrap it around the head for a few minutes. Also, avoid brushing wet hair. Use a wide tooth comb. Moreover, avoid the regular use of hair dryers and allow your hair to dry naturally as much as possible.
Make Your Own Shampoo
To make your own hair washing preparation take one handful each of dried reetha, shikakai and amla. Add them in one litre of water and soak overnight. Next day, simmer the mixture on a low flame and continue till the water reduced to half. Strain the mixture using a clean cloth and use this liquid to wash your hair. Keep the mixture in the refrigerator for further use and make small quantities at a time.
